Big meaty fava beans for all sorts of yummy recipes. The plants grow 2-3 feet tall plants and produce 1 in. wide, 6-8 inch long pods containing 5-6 large beans. We love to substitute this bean for chickpeas in hummus. Because they can get really heavy as they get laden with pods, the do tend to want fall over. Using t-posts or poles at the ends of the rows and stringing them up would be beneficial. Along with its uses in recipes, it is also a good, nitrogen fixing cover crop.
