Transform clay into wearable art in this exciting 2-session class at The Charming Orange! Whether you're new to jewelry making or an experienced crafter, this course offers a fun and creative way to design and make your own clay jewelry. In a supportive, hands-on environment, you'll learn basic jewelry design concepts while experimenting with textures, shapes, and colors to create your own unique pieces.
Course Overview:
In this two-week workshop, you will use the art of handbuilding with clay to craft personalized beads, pendants, and earring pieces. You’ll learn basic jewelry design principles, explore different texturing techniques, and create one-of-a-kind accessories.
• Week 1: Create Your Own Beads and Pendants
Start by sketching your design ideas and exploring different shapes, textures, and color concepts. You’ll then use clay to form your pendants, beads, and earring pieces, adding personalized textures and details along the way. Whether you’re creating something simple and elegant or bold and intricate, you’ll leave with a variety of components to craft your jewelry. Connectors, clasps, and earring findings will be provided so you can assemble your pieces into finished jewelry at the end of the course.
• Week 2: Glazing and Finishing Touches
After your pieces have been bisque fired, you’ll return to glaze them with a range of underglazes and studio overglazes. This final session allows you to add vibrant colors and finishes to your beads and pendants, bringing your designs to life. Whether you prefer soft, earthy tones or bold, striking colors, you'll learn how to apply glazing techniques to achieve your desired look.
Course Details:
• All materials and firings are included in the course fee. Students can make multiples of pieces as time permits. The studio provides the jewelry findings (clasps, ear wires, jump rings, etc.) to complete your pieces, and basic tools will be available for studio use.
• Your completed jewelry will be available for pick-up within two weeks after the final class, and we’ll notify you when it’s ready for collection.
• Please come prepared with a hand towel for your use and whatever beverage you want. Wear comfortable, older clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, and non-slip shoes for safety.
• Students may use the studio jewelry tools to assemble their pieces during class or take their creations home to finish at their leisure.

This class is perfect for beginners who are new to clay or jewelry making, as well as those with some experience looking to expand their creative skills. It’s open to ages 16 and up, and no previous ceramic or jewelry-making experience is required. You’ll walk away from the course with handmade, personalized pieces that reflect your unique style.
